The historic Leimert Park, developed in 1928, remains a cultural and community staple for the African American community in LA. Referred to as the “Black Greenwich Village” by the late filmmaker and Los Angeles native John Singleton, Leimert Park hosts a range of events honoring the contributions and lives of African Americans. Each Sunday, you can find vendors lined up throughout the village offering various natural based skin products, handcrafted African garb, Caribbean food, and much more!

1010 Wine and events have the distinction of being the first and only Black-owned wine bar in Inglewood, CA. Sisters Leslie and LeAnn Jones opened the business in their hometown, featuring the largest selection of Black-owned wines.

Gorilla Rx Wellness

Gorilla Rx Wellness is the first and only Black woman owned dispensary in Los Angeles.

Gorilla Rx Wellness is the first and only Black owned dispensary in Los Angeles. Founded by a mother-daughter duo who go by the name Kika, this dispensary aims to serve the community of Crenshaw and decrease the disparities that exist around ownership in the cannabis industry.

Black Panther Party Headquarters

In 1968 the Southern California chapter of the Black Panther Party (BPP) was founded by Alprentice “Bunchy” Carter in Los Angeles, California. The LA chapter of the BPP quickly became a leader within the organization, with their headquarters serving as a primary place for the party to gather.

African-Americans Honored on the Walk of Fame – Since its inception in 1953, there have been more than 2,500 stars unveiled on the Hollywood Walk of Fame — 15 blocks of brass stars embedded on Hollywood Boulevard dedicated to honoring stars who have achieved the pinnacle of success.
